Consumer and business confidence

In June 2015 with regard to the Consumer survey, the confidence climate index increased from 106.0 to 109.5. The increase is explained by all components: economic, personal, current and future, which rise respectively from 130.3 to 139.4, from 98.5 to 100.0, from 101.0 to 103.3 and from 114.7 to 119.4. The balance concerning expectations on unemployment decreased from 29 to 9. The balance on inflation perceptions referring to the last 12 months decreased from -14 to -21 registered in the previous month. The balance on inflation expectations for next 12 months also decreased from -15 to -20.

With regard to business surveys, the composite business confidence climate index (IESI, Istat Economic Sentiment Indicator) increased from 101.8 in May to 104.3.

The confidence index in manufacturing rose from 103.4 to 103.9. Assessments on order books and production expectations remained stable (at -13 and at 11, respectively) and inventories decreased (from 3 to 2).

The confidence index in construction rose from 111.8 to 119.7. Assessments on order books and construction plans and employment expectations improved (from -37 to -33 and from -16 to -9, respectively).

The market services confidence index rose from 105.1 to 109.0. The index increased in Transportation and storage (from 119.5 to 126.7) and in Information and communication (from 100.9 to 109.3) while it decreased in Tourism services (from 105.6 to 102.0) and in Business services and Other services (from 101.5 to 100.4).

The retail trade confidence index rose from 103.9 to 105.9. The confidence increased in the large scale distribution (from 103.5 to 106.3) and in small and medium scale distribution (from 104.5 to 107.0).
