Retribuzioni contrattuali

Contractual wages and salaries

The index of wages according to collective labour agreements measures the evolution of wages and salaries (per employee or per hour) determined by contractual provisions set by collective agreements; the indices are calculated with reference to the fixed employment structure of the base period (December 2010).

At the end of April 2016 the coverage rate (share of national collective agreements in force for the wage setting aspects) was 36.0 per cent in terms of employees and 34.8 per cent in terms of the total amount of wages.

In April 2016 the hourly index was unchanged while the per employee index increased by 0.1 per cent from last month.

Compared with April 2015 both indices increased by 0.6 per cent.

During the period January-April 2016 the hourly index and the per employee index rose by 0.7 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Note. On 21 June 2016 the full text and relevant time series in this press release were replaced in order to take account of the extension of the national collective agreements for journalists, which resulted in bargaining tension indicators being revised.
